the end was spectacular

The end was spectacular.

The way she collapsed face down against the cold soil, the sky above twisting into a dark chaos of clouds and thunder.

Had she known it would end like this – no way back – that every decision and consequence would lead her to the here and now… Would she have done it all the same? Each moment, every crisis, all that pain?

The beginning seemed so simple. So easy. The ending didn't even cross her mind.

She fumbled with her memories, trying aimlessly to pinpoint the choices that led her to this moment. Where, exactly, had she gone wrong?

A fine drizzle fell now, spilling over her slicked hair, mingling with the salty tears that trickled down her cheeks. Yes, there had been moments of glory— fleeting bursts of happiness that would remain etched in her memory forever.

All of it—a mere blink compared to the abyss she had dug for herself. There was no going back; she knew that well. The door hadn’t simply closed behind her— it had slammed shut, echoing with the same ferocity as the thunder above.

So this is how it ends, she thought to herself, a sob threatening to swallow her whole.

And then, at that very instant— a shaft of light. Breaking through the chaos and despair, striking her directly, blinding her for a few seconds.

Lifting her head, she looked up at the heavy clouds, now parting, offering a glimpse of the blue sky: not gone but merely hidden behind the dark storm and thunder.

A reminder that everything, even the tempest, is temporary.

Slowly, she pushed herself off the wet ground. One foot, then the other— and with a deep exhale, she stood tall. Taller than before.

A storm raged inside of her, yes. But now she knew: the blue sky was in there too, hiding somewhere beneath the clouds.

The rain now softened its rhythm, allowing her to see ahead more clearly.

There was a path.

This time she faced it fully aware of her past decisions— the missteps that had made her stumble upon herself.

She faced it, blank as an empty page. No, she wouldn’t do it all over again— not in the same way.

Here was the chance to take new steps.

If this was the end, it was also a beginning.
